DECAL RELEASING announced today the March 28th streaming release for LOS FRIKIS, with pre-sales going live today (Apple, Amazon, Fandango at Home). The film marks the return of writers and directors Michael Schwartz and Tyler Nilson in their follow-up to the critically acclaimed hit, The Peanut Butter Falcon, and is produced by Academy Award winning filmmakers Christopher Miller and Phil Lord through their production shingle Lord Miller. The film features incredible performances by Latino actors Adrià Arjona (Hit Man), Héctor Medina (VIVA), Jorge Perugorría, Luis Alberto García and introducing Eros de la Puente as Gustavo.

Los Frikis takes place in 1990s Cuba, where Fidel Castro has outlawed all rock music, a group of impoverished punk musicians dream of a life beyond oppression. Desperate for a way out, they seize on a shocking and dangerous escape—one that could grant them the freedom they crave but at the ultimate cost. Inspired by true events, Los Frikis is a gripping story of rebellion, sacrifice, and the unbreakable human spirit.

The Wayward/Range release premiered in theaters in Los Angeles and New York on December 20th with special screenings hosted by Ben Stiller, Michael Shannon, Jason Momoa, Michael Imperoli, Mark Duplass and many more. It expanded to the top 25 markets in the December 25th holiday and beyond.

Awarded the Grand Jury Prizes at The Miami International Film Festival (Marimbas Award) and San Antonio Film Festival (Best Performance – Héctor Medina), this poignant film also struck a chord at the Nantucket Film Festival with the Audience Award (Shine Global Award) and Middlebury Film Festival with Best Narrative Feature. Los Frikis also took home the ‘Truly Moving Picture’ award at the Heartland International Film Festival and was the winner of ‘Best Narrative Film’ at the 2024 Savannah Film Festival.

Director Michael Schwartz said “Making Los Frikis with Lord Miller, Adria Arjona, an incredible crew, and some of the best actors from Cuba is an experience Tyler and I will never forget. The way the movie sticks with audiences is humbling and it reminds us that friendship, love, and community can bring hope to any situation. We are so excited to share Los Frikis with audiences who will be able to watch at home soon.”

Range Music will release the companion EP “Los Frikis (Music From & Inspired By)” along with a 27-track score composed by Steven Price on March 28th. The companion EP features a mix of Spanish-language punk originals and covers of iconic rock songs, performed by Basura, the fictional band in the film. The EP includes contributions from Michael Shuman (Queens of the Stone Age), Matt Helders (Arctic Monkeys), and Zachary Dawes (Lana Del Rey) on production and instrumentation. “Los Frikis (Music From & Inspired By)” includes four original songs (Exit Sign, Libertad, A Punto de Venirme, Muerte la Puerta) alongside Spanish-language covers of Basket Case, Smells Like Teen Spirit, Conga, and Copacabana. Also on March 28th Mutant will release an exclusive set of limited edition posters for the film. The artwork features four unique color variants, with each version inspired by an iconic punk record:
