Stars and VFX Talent, a Planet of the Apes Immersive Fan Experience, Electrifying SDCC Talent Panel, and Artist Signings Showcase the Amazing Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes Movie
The Summer Epic, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, is Out Now On Digital and Streaming On Hulu on August 2
20th Century Studios’ summer epic action-adventure, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, reigned at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con International, where fans had multiple opportunities to celebrate this masterpiece. A huge highlight included the immersive Enter the Forbidden Zone! The Planet of the Apes Experience which 5,255 fans over 4 days traveled behind-the-scenes into the past six decades of one of the most popular cinematic franchises. Guests were captivated by the costumes, comics, props, and photography celebrating the 10 films in the Planet of the Apes legacy. There was also several opportunities for fans to dive deeper into Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes including immersive stations with the film’s movement coordinator, Alain Gauthier, taught everyone how to move like an ape and a falconer with a live Harris hawk (named Lola) explored how birds of prey were featured in the movie.
Thursday was the electrifying Unveiling the VFX magic: 20th Century Studios’ Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes panel, which was met with raucous applause. The film stars and VFX talent had fun with the 1,000 person audience and excited everyone with behind the scenes content that brought the movie magic to life. Hosted by Entertainment Weekly’s Gerrad Hall and with stunning previs/postvis videos, fans were able to experience the spectacular ways the fantastical apes and battles came to be.
Finally, fans had two opportunities to meet SteelBook artist, Dylan Cole, as he signed exclusive artwork from the Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes 4K UHD Blu-ray. Dylan was cheered on the convention floor at the Hulu and Disney+ booth (#3529) as Comic-Con goers waited in line for the special poster signing. To reach fans without a badge, he walked over to the Planet of the Apes Fan Experience and signed hundreds more special art posters to celebrate the fans.
20th Century Studios’ Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes stunning new entry into the Planet of the Apes franchise has been heralded by critics, is a visual masterpiece and has thrilled audiences worldwide. The film is out now at Digital retailers (Prime Video, AppleTV and Fandango at Home) and arrives on streaming on Hulu on August 2 and also on 4K UHD Blu-Ray and DVD on August 27.
