This April, award-winning worldwide music phenomenon, Nicky Jam, takes us on a journey through his incredible life story — from his humble and troubled beginnings in Boston to his downfall on the streets, to becoming the king of one of the most popular musical genres.

Follow his journey through the 13-episode bio-series based on his life and career that is now on Netflix in the U.S.

Humble Beginnings and Uphill Battles
Before becoming a household name, Nicky Jam was born Nick Rivera Caminero to a Puerto Rican father and Dominican mother in Boston but raised in Puerto Rico from the age of 10. 
 
He recorded his first album at the age of 11, titled “Distinto a Los Demás” after being discovered at a supermarket and signed to a music label in Puerto Rico.

In the late 90s, Nicky Jam formed the music duo, Los Cangris, with another reggaeton giant, Daddy Yankee (before reaching his own fame from his 2004 hit, “Gasolina”).

Before their names were in international lights, the group disbanded for reasons you’ll discover in the 13-chapter series.

Revival through Reggaeton
In 2007 Nicky moved to Medellin, Colombia, after falling for the country’s love of lyrics and cadence, Nicky positioned himself as a top songwriter.

By 2010, Nicky was topping the charts, opening shows for reggaeton stars, J Balvin and Reykon. 

In 2015, he released “El Perdon” with Enrique Iglesias, which pushed him to the forefront of reggaeton music.

The song earned him his first Latin Grammy and was heard worldwide on the 2018 FIFA World Cup stage in Russia.
